Home-Based Head Start

Head Start believes that parents and guardians are a child’s first and best teacher and that you play a vital role in your child’s development and success.  We encourage families to interact in all aspects of the home visiting experience and to take advantage of opportunities such as socializations and Policy Council. Our home-based team - home visitors, supervisors, and specialist - are here to support not only your child, but your entire family, on the journey to a successful transition to Head Start and beyond.

Our Home-Based Program offers:

  • Services for prenatal individuals and children ages birth - 5 years old
  • Weekly home visits, bringing support directly to your home anywhere in Otsego County.
  • Twice-monthly socializations offering fun activities, nutritious meals/snacks, and opportunities for children and parents to meet and connect with other families.

Socializations

Early Head Start home visitors coordinate socializations twice a month for families and children to get together. Socializations offer activities, book, and meals revolved around different themes.

emotsupport-grayshirttissue-eng-insta.jpgBecoming a new parent can be hard. It is normal to feel depressed, anxious, and overwhelmed after having a baby. You are not alone. It's important to remember that mental health challenges are common during this time and there is no shame in seeking help. If you need someone to talk to, call or text the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline at 1-833-TLC-MAMA (1-833-852-6262) any time. It's free and confidential.
