My name is Jess Eklund and for over three years I have been the Campus Advocate with the Violence Intervention Program. I’m a SUNY Oneonta alum and have dedicated my professional career to helping people. I currently live in Oneonta with my husband and our dog, Turnip. Turnip is an American Kennel Club “Star Puppy” graduate and has dedicated her life to making people smile one wag of her tail at a time. You might have seen me at a campus event like Hartwick’s Sex and Chocolate or SUNY Oneonta’s Know Violence events. Maybe you’ve stopped by my table in Fitzelle or Dewer to play a game and win a prize. My primary goal is to support survivors of sexual assault, dating violence, stalking, family violence, and other violent crimes. Whether you’re a student or staff member, if the crime happened on campus or off, was yesterday or 10 years ago, if you want additional help or just want to talk, I’m here for you. I provide short term counseling, assist you to file for an order of protection, assist with law enforcement and Title IX interviews, and more. Although I don’t work for either university, I do have on campus office hours that you are welcome to visit. As always, our program is free and confidential.
I hope to get to know you soon!
