Summer 2025: Paid Student Internship Program

OFO is now accepting applications from Building Trades/Clean Energy BOCES and College Students for a paid summer internship program. Gain hands-on experience performing home energy conservation measures. This is a full-time, 40-hour per week opportunity paying $17.00/hour with transportation to job sites. Apply Online.

All applicants must upload a Resume; Cover Letter; and Proof of New York State residency (e.g. driver’s license, phone bill, or mail sent to you at a New York State address). College Students must upload a transcript that includes name, school, and semester dates. BOCES Students should apply as “Other - Priority Population”  - “Student in qualifying work preparedness program”.

OFO's Energy Services department offers free or low-cost home energy conservation upgrades to make homes more energy efficient, affordable, comfortable and safe.  Weatherization measures we may provide include: 

  • Whole house energy assessments
  • Blower Door Testing for new construction and rehabilitation projects
  • Installation of Energy Star appliances and windows
  • Cellulose insulation blowing
  • Air sealing, weather-stripping and/or caulking around doors and windows
  • Replacement/repair of storm windows, broken windows and/or outside doors
  • Installation of smoke detectors and check for gas leaks and carbon monoxide
  • Education on energy conservation
  • Information on available financing for energy-related improvements

Weatherization services are provided without cost to income-eligible homeowners and tenants in Otsego and Chenango Counties. However, owners of rental buildings renting to low-income tenants can access this service with a minimal contribution towards the cost of the Weatherization services.
