APRIL IS SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS MONTH
04.28.2021 – Wear Denim Day: As part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Violence Intervention Program is observing Wear Denim Day. This event brings to light the myth that clothing, such as tight jeans, provoke sexual assault and that dressing in provocative or revealing clothing means a victim is “asking for it”. The community is encouraged to wear denim April 28th and submit or post a photo to OFO’s Facebook page.
04.29.2021 - Take Back the Night March Mindful Walk: The Violence Intervention Program and Hartwick College have partnered to organize a virtual Take Back the Night event. In lieu of a community march, the public is encouraged to walk the traditional TBTN loop or an alternate, custom route in support and remembrance of sexual assault victims and survivors. Participants are invited to post photos on social media with the tags #CityofTheHillsTBTN2021, #SAAM2021 or a "Believe Survivor" filter/sticker. Instagram and Snapchat filters are available at RAINN.
05.21.2021 – Staff Appreciation Day: Opportunities for Otsego offices will be closed for a Staff Appreciation event. The Emergency Housing and Violence Intervention Program 24-hour hotlines and shelters will still be accessible to those with a need.
05.31.2021 - Agency Closed: Opportunities for Otsego will be closed in recognition of the Memorial Day holiday. The Emergency Housing and Violence Intervention Program 24-hour hotlines and shelters will still be accessible to those with a need.
