The Board of Directors at Opportunities for Otsego is pleased to announce the promotion of Tanya Shalor, Chief Financial Officer, to Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1, 2024. Shalor will succeed Dan Maskin, the current Chief Executive Officer, who retires on June 28th after a long and distinguished tenure with Opportunities for Otsego.

“Dan’s leadership and mentorship over the years has been invaluable and I will wish him nothing but happiness and success in his future endeavors,” said Shalor. “I strive to continue our mission and am excited to work with our board of directors, community partners, funders, clients and staff in Opportunities for Otsego next chapter continuing our focus on client support and success to alleviate poverty through the numerous programs and services offered in Otsego County. Collaborations, partnerships, and teamwork are the key elements that will continue to make our clients and community thrive.”

Shalor joined Opportunities for Otsego in 2013 as the CFO, after serving as the Head Start Director for the agency for three years. “Tanya's extensive experience with Opportunities for Otsego and her deep connection to Otsego County make her a perfect fit for this role. We are fortunate to benefit from her leadership and are excited to see what she will do as Chief Executive Officer,” said Board of Directors President, Lisa Samols. “As the head of both the finance and human resources departments, Tanya is intimately familiar with how Opportunities for Otsego works. She has a clear vision for the agency’s future in the Otsego County community.”

Shalor received her Bachelor’s degree, with honors, in accounting from Elmira College. She is a graduate of the Leadership Otsego program and served on the Advisory Council for the organization for two years. She currently is a Board of Education member of Worcester Central School and community action committees at the state and local level.  She has served as a board member of the Tri-County Young Professionals, Oneonta Business Women’s Club, Otsego County Chamber of Commerce, Catskill Symphony Orchestra, Upper Catskill Community Center of the Arts, Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care, and the Executive Service Corps of Otsego-Delaware Counties.
