OFO Director to Lead Southern Tier Homeless Coalition Team

Opportunities for Otsego’s Director of Crisis Intervention Services, William Rivera, has been elected to lead the Southern Tier Homeless Coalition Board of Directors for the 2022 year.

The Southern Tier Homeless Coalition (STHC) is a collaborative nonprofit organization committed to creating systems and solutions to prevent and end homelessness across a six-county region that includes Broome, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Otsego, and Tioga Counties. The STHC is a membership organization, comprised of over 30 individuals, organizations, and corporations dedicated to ensuring that all people have access to safe, affordable housing and the social supports to remain housed.

William Rivera has served as Crisis Intervention Director since 2014, overseeing emergency housing and shelter services offered through Opportunities for Otsego’s Violence Intervention Program and Emergency Housing Assistance Program, and has been a board member of the STHC since 2019.

On his new appointment, William Rivera stated, “I am honored to have been nominated and appointed as the President of the Southern Tier Homeless Coalition. I look forward to working with my fellow board and coalition members on advocating for and providing permanent solutions for the problems of homelessness across the Southern Tier.”
