August Caught Being Green Winner

The winner of our most recent Caught Green-Handed prize drawing for a green lunch kit (which included a reusable plate, bowl, mug, utensils, and cloth napkins) is Christian Strignano . . .

To participate in the Caught Green-Handed campaign, you can:

Recognize a coworker if you spot them doing something green by filling out a Caught Green-Handed card and giving it to them. You can get cards from your supervisor or from the break room at 3WB.

Green your own work habits! The more you do, the greater your chance of someone spotting you green-handed! If someone gives you a Caught Green-Handed card, you can hang it on the bulletin board so everyone knows how awesome you are, and also to be eligible for our monthly prize drawing!

VIP Awarded $395,935 in ARRA Funds

Opportunities for Otsego (OFO) has received notification from Senator Charles Schumer that it has been awarded $395,935 under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to implement a scattered-site transitional housing model that will offer housing location services, short-term housing assistance, and supportive services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Otsego County. Services will be provided through OFO’s Violence Intervention Program.

The goal of the project is to serve 18-23 primary victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault over the period 6/1/2009 – 5/31/2012. Other services include increasing a victim’s ability to obtain/maintain housing; maintain personal safety and wellness, obtain/maintain employment and experience economic growth, and remove barriers to accessing safety and support services. VIP will accomplish these goals by offering housing location assistance, coordinating payment of housing expenses (i.e. first month’s rent, security deposits, incidentals), offering 50% monthly rental subsidies for 6-12 months, case management, coordination with community employment services, transportation assistance, referrals to supportive services, outreach, and collaboration with community partners. All services will be victim-centered and underscore personal safety, wellness, and housing security.
